About Chipnet Ltd.

Chipnet Ltd. was started in 1993 by its Managing Director (Andy Cippico) as a route to contracting in the IT world. It very soon progressed to dealing with SOHO (Small Office, Home Office) clients and this now forms the bulk of our work.

Andy has had an extensive career in IT, dating back to 1980 when the home computer started to make its first appearances. Things were not Plug n Play in those days and a lot of time was spent troubleshooting, soldering and tinkering. A huge amount background knowledge was built up during that time because you were very often the first person to try connecting device 'A' with device 'B'. I suppose you could could call it pioneering, but Andy would never be so pompous...

Nowadays life is simpler, but at the same time more complicated. Computers tend to be easier to use, but people expect so much more of their PCs than was ever anticipated. Unfortunately they are not like household appliances yet. When was the last time you had to restart your vacuum cleaner to get it going again? We want our PCs to be entertainment centres, word processors, games consoles and more. Half our time at Chipnet is spent sorting out conflicts between installed programmes and the mess left behind by viruses and uninstalled programmes. Very often it's easier to wipe the PC and install from scratch. You could unpick a problem for days and still not get far.

We relish a challenge and will always play fair on callout charges. The last thing we want is unhappy customers. Give us a try - the worst that can happen is that we'll decline a request because we don't want to let you down by doing a poor job.
